World’s Biggest Assembly

Invenio's contribution

Our contribution

Students from Invenio Academy took part in the BBC’s World Class assembly: the world’s biggest assembly.  This assembly was attended by students across the world, and by students from Branson and Pleasence representing Invenio as part of their regular assembly programme.  Students watched a short video clip outlining some of the concerns of students from Brazil, Africa, Japan, Italy and elsewhere, before voting on the things that mattered most.

Ahead of the assembly, students had been voting on an online survey to identify some things which mattered to them about their school, local, national or international community.  These were used as the basis for the discussion in the assembly, in addition to topics suggested by students in the assembly.

As the picture shows, students voted overwhelmingly to say that friends and family were what mattered most to them.  It was a similar story on the online survey – but there is still time to have your say, by visiting: http://tinyurl.com/inveniobbc.

Watoto Choir visit to Invenio

April 13, 2012 in Front Page News, Parents, Pleasence Centre, Staff, Students by Mr S Maxson

The Watoto Children's Choir performing at Invenio Academy

A wonderful evening was spent in the company of the Watoto Children’s Choir on the Saturday evening before the start of the Summer Term.  We were fortunate to have the Choir visit us some years ago, and none who experienced their singing or their stories will ever forget the occasion.  Their return visit to Invenio was even better, and even more moving.  A large audience from across the community very much enjoyed the concert.

If you want to find out more about Watoto, and the work that they do in rebuilding lives in Uganda, please visit www.watoto.com.
